We encourage everyone to participate fully in the course.

Serving the Catholic Church as musicians, clergy, liturgists, and other leaders of prayer.

Music Ministry Together fosters the art of musical liturgy.

During the summer school, we will gather together as music ministers. We will have various sessions to teach and learn church music together. Choir leaders will experience being choir members and hopefully, some choir members will have a go at being choir leaders.

We will also prepare and participate in various styles of Liturgy, share the Eucharist and Sacraments and Cathecisis. Finally, there will also be time to have fun, with organised activities and entertainment through the week.

Our 2019 summer course will begin on Monday, July 29 and ends on Friday, August 2.

Where is the course held?

The Music Ministry Together summer course is held at Cistercian College Roscrea, a boarding school in the grounds Mount St Joseph Cistercian monastery. The various aspects of the course take place within the building with meals provided on-site. Most of the liturgies during the week are held in the College Chapel but there is also an opportunity to join the Cistercian Community for prayer and Mass in the Abbey Church.

What are the age requirements?

There is no minimum or maximum age for participants attending the course however those wishing to bring a group under the age of 15 must be accompanied and supervised at all times by adults.

Do I have to know how to read music?

No, it is not a requirement but it does help. While most of our participants are able to read music, we understand that not everyone can. We will offer assistance and some classes in musicianship so this may be the time to begin learning how to follow and read music.

I am an instrumentalist. Do I still need to sing at MMT?

Yes! We expect everyone to sing at MMT. We will give you every opportunity to develop your skills on your primary instrument. However, singing is an important part of liturgical music, and when we will all sing we are praying with our voices.

Do I have to be Catholic to attend?

No. MMT is an ecumenical program and we welcome applications from all Christian denominations.

Can I come for a day?

Yes, absolutely! We offer a day rate which is €60 per day. This includes meals and materials.

We highly encourage participants to live on campus for the course. Adult participants may opt to commute and this is possible.

The full course cost is €320 which includes meals, accommodation and materials. Please note that accommodation is dormitory style. There are a limited number of en-suite single rooms available at an additional cost (€15 extra per day).
